Privacy Policy

In plain words

We do not know who you are and we do not try to find out. Nobody signs up here, so there are no profiles to build. A few technical traces remain, as with any website, and they are described below.

What we keep

  • Request records: our server writes down the visitor's IP address, the browser and device, when the visit happened and which page was asked for. This helps us serve pages, resist attacks and find bugs.
  • A cookie with your cookie answer, valid for one year, so the notice does not keep returning.
  • A cookie named tubidy-recent that holds the title, the artist and the address of the last 12 songs you opened. It lasts a year, it is used by your own browser to draw the Recently Viewed block and it is not written if you chose "Only essentials".
  • Any email you send us, until we have replied.

About cookies

We never use advertising or tracking cookies. Video and converter tools from other companies can set their own, so the cookie notice lets you turn down all that are optional, and the Cookie choices link in the footer brings it back when you want to change your answer.

Services from other companies

Two things on a song page are not ours. When they load, they learn your IP address and which browser you use, and they obey their own privacy rules:

  • The video, played by YouTube's privacy-friendly player (youtube-nocookie.com, a Google service) once you press play. Small preview pictures come from i.ytimg.com.
  • The converter, a tool run by an independent provider that opens only when you ask.

Why this is allowed

We have a legitimate interest in running a secure site. Everything optional, such as cookies from outside tools or the Recently Viewed cookie, depends on your consent, which you may withdraw whenever you wish.

Time limits

Request records are deleted when security and bug-fixing no longer need them, and emails are deleted after we reply.

What you can ask for

If the GDPR, the CCPA or a similar law applies to you, you can ask to see the data we hold on you, to have it fixed or erased, to restrict it, to object to its use or to receive a copy. Email the address below. Unhappy with our reply? Your national data protection authority can take your complaint.

Children

The site is not for children under 13, and we never knowingly collect information about them.

If this changes

A new version of this policy gets a new date at the top.
